Litherland, Kennedy & Associates attended the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys’ Fall Summit in San Diego, California, from October 16–19, 2025. The Summit brought together leading estate planning attorneys from across the country to explore emerging legal trends, elevate practice management, and share innovative strategies for delivering exceptional client care.
This year’s theme, “Reflect. Refuel. Reimagine.”, encouraged attendees to pause and evaluate current practices, recharge with new insights, and envision fresh, future-ready approaches to serving families.
“Our Summits are designed to ultimately benefit the families our Members serve,” said Sanford M. Fisch, CEO and Co-Founder of the American Academy. “By giving attorneys time to reflect, refuel, and reimagine their practices, we ensure they return home better equipped to guide clients through life’s most important planning decisions.”
Educational and Practical Highlights
Throughout the four-day Summit, LKA Attorneys Justin M. Kennedy, Rianne C. Lu, Srushti Shah Chauhan, and Director of Marketing Wendy Harshbarger, participated in a broad range of sessions covering legal updates, practice management, technology, and marketing.
One of the key highlights was “Examining Estate Planning and Related Issues After the Big Beautiful Bill,” which broke down the latest legislative changes and how they will shape planning strategies families rely on.
Other standout sessions included:
-
“Beyond the Hoodie: Cybersecurity Realities for Estate Planning Attorneys” — a deep dive into strengthening firm security to protect sensitive client information and reinforce trust.
-
“Streamline, Automate, Thrive: Using Technology to Improve Your Workflow” — a look at how improving efficiency and accuracy behind the scenes leads to a smoother, more supportive client experience.
LKA Attorneys Rianne C. Lu and Srushti Shah highlighted the Women Attorneys Luncheon as a Summit favorite, appreciating the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with fellow female attorneys from across the Academy.
