Silicon Valley estate planning and elder care law firm Litherland, Kennedy & Associates attended one of the nation’s premier legal education conferences in San Diego, CA from October 5 to October 8. The American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys hosted their 30th annual Fall Summit which included over 90 estate planning law firms from around the country.
The American Academy is committed to helping its Member attorneys innovate the way they practice law. The conference focused on attorneys enhancing relationships within their communities, cutting-edge legal education, practice management and leadership training. “The 30th Anniversary was not only the celebration of the American Academy, but also a celebration of the 30 years of transforming estate planning law firms. We wanted to focus this Summit on showing our Members how they are transforming their clients’ lives and how they can continue to do so.” said Robert Armstrong, President and Co-Founder of the American Academy.
The Summit kicked off with a Keynote Session that centered around “Wholistic Planning for Life, Health & Wealth with Integrity,” presented by Bryan Adams, the Co-Founder and CEO of Integrity. Litherland, Kennedy & Associates Attorneys Justin M. Kennedy, Maggie LaBranch-Gonzales, A.G. Konstantin and Srushti Shah also received training on the newest developments in estate planning and elder law during the sessions: Deeper Dive into Taxation of Trust, Advanced Issues in Trust Administration, and Avoiding Ethical Traps, Tricks, and Trip Ups in Estate Planning. Recognizing the need to stay on top of current trends, the Litherland Kennedy Team also attended sessions on the use of Artificial Intelligence in law firms and the ever-popular Marketing Roundtable session.

Reflecting on the summit, Attorney Justin M. Kennedy commented, “This year we took six members of our team to the Academy Summit as they were hosting educational sessions on updates in estate planning, Trust Administration, as well as tax planning. The Academy Summits always make me feel like I am a part of the larger conversation about estate planning and where the industry is headed. I leave each summit with new and exciting ideas on how to strengthen and grow our practice and better serve our community. It is also a great opportunity to catch up with long time Academy friends as well as make new Academy friends.”
