Attorney Roy W. Litherland is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs to prepare, present and prosecute claims for Veterans before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
In July of 2008, the Department of Veterans Affairs mandated that any individual representing a veteran pursuing VA benefits must be accredited with the VA in order to further a claim on behalf of the Veteran. To receive accreditation, federal law requires an attorney to pass a written examination and to complete continuing legal education relating to VA representation, disability compensation, dependency and indemnity compensation and pension benefits, claim procedures, eligibility requirements, and appeal rights. An attorney must also establish that he or she is of good character and reputation. The privilege of accreditation carries with it the responsibility to maintain specified standards of conduct and comply with the laws that govern VA representations, as set forth in the United States Code and the Code of Federal Regulations.
Roy focuses his practice exclusively on estate and elder law planning. Veterans have made enormous sacrifices for our country and the Litherland, Kennedy & Associates, APC, Attorneys at Law is a resource to answer their questions and guide them in their efforts to apply for VA benefits.
