We make an effort to provide estate planning and elder care information to people here in the greater San Jose area on an ongoing basis. On the electronic level we maintain this blog and make sure that it is updated regularly with useful content.
In addition to the blog, our website has a section that contains a rather extensive library of free special reports. The special reports examine various different aspects of estate planning and elder care, and you can download as many reports as you want to at any time. If you peruse this page, you will see many different options. Simply click on any report that interests you to gain access: Free Special Reports.
In addition to the dissemination of information electronically, we also get out into the community to present workshops and seminars. We have a number of them coming up in January and February.
The first group of information sessions that we are offering will focus on the subject of living trusts.
Probate & Living Trusts
When you look into the matter you will see that probate is a factor when you use a last will to arrange for the transfer of your assets.
Probate is not inherently negative, but there are some drawbacks that go along with it. Probate is time-consuming, and it can be quite expensive.
Living trusts facilitate the transfer of assets outside of the process of probate. To learn about these trusts in detail, simply register for one of our living trust seminars.
We would like to emphasize the fact that the seminars are being offered absolutely free of charge. However, we do ask that you register in advance so that we can reserve space for you.
After this first wave of living trust seminars, we are offering Medi-Cal planning workshops.
Medi-Cal Planning
Many people are surprised to hear that Medicare will not pay for a stay in a nursing home or assisted living community. These facilities are very expensive and out of the reach of many people. Even if you could possibly pay for the care, you may wind up spending everything you have saved if you must pay out-of-pocket.
Effective Medi-Cal planning may enable you to retain a maximum store of assets for the benefit of your loved ones as you prepare yourself for future program eligibility.

If you would like to register for any of these information sessions, simply visit this page and click on the registration link that sits under the session that you would like to attend: Litherland Law Office Workshops & Seminars.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming sessions!
